9 things you need to know about Spotify

1. Spotify sync to iPod feature is no longer available

In 2011, Spotify lets you sync your downloaded MP3 playlist bundles to your USB-connected iPod classic, nano, or shuffle via a new "Devices" section of the Spotify app running on your computer. However, this feature is no longer available now.

2 PLAYLIST RECOVERY

Log into your Spotify account on the web (not the player, the actual Spotify site) then you can change all types of account details and also recover playlists you've recently deleted. It's not clear just how long Spotify keeps these old playlists but a click on the Restore button and you're back in business.

3. Download music on 3 devices, up to 3,333 songs per device

You can download Spotify tracks for offline listening on up to 3 devices at a time, up to 3,333 songs per device. So when you can't download songs, make sure you haven't reached this limitation first. When you download music to the 4th device, the downloaded songs on the first device will be removed. Or you can manually remove a device from the Offline devices list .

4. 1GB free space is recommended for music downloading

To download songs for offline listening, make sure there’s enough free space on the device’s memory (we recommend at least 1GB).

5. Be online with Spotify at least once in the last 30 days

Make sure your account has been online at least once within the last 30 days so that Spotify can check that your subscription is still active. Or the downloaded songs will be removed.

6. Spotify reinstallation will remove downloaded songs

If you reinstall Spotify, the downloaded songs will be removed from your device automatically.

8. Download icon is only available on playlist page on desktop

To download single songs or albums, add them to a new or existing playlist first, then switch on download toggle.

7. Spotify offline songs are DRM protected

Songs you downloaded for offline listening are DRM protected and can only be played on that device within Spotify app. Actually, when you open the offline songs storage folder, you won't find audio files. They are all folders containing files with .file extension.
