How to play Spotify music on Samsung Galaxy Watch

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is popular for its fitness-focused features and the comprehensive Samsung Health app. It's also an excellent choice for music, whether you're on a morning commute or a daily workout. You can play local music on Samsung smart watch, just ensure it is paired to your compatible smartphone and you have transferred media files from your phone directly to the watch. Additionally, you can listen to Spotify on your watch, whether you have a Free or Premium account. This post will guide you on how to listen to local music and Spotify on Samsung Galaxy Watch.

Option 1. Play local music on Galaxy Watch

Transfer Music to your Galaxy Watch from your phone

1. Open the Galaxy Wearables App on your phone.

2. Tap Settings and select Add content to your Watch.

3. Select Add Tracks and choose the songs you want to transfer. Tap Done.

4. Open the Music App within your Galaxy Watch Active and locate your recently added music files.

On Gear S3, Sport and Galaxy Watch devices:

1. Press the Home key to access the Apps screen.

2. Open the Music app.

3. Tap the Phone icon at the top to choose between playing music from your connected phone or the Gear Watch. If you would like to play directly through the watch speaker, tap the Watch icon.

4. Press Play to start playing the media file.

Option 2. Stream music via your Spotify Premium Account

Simply download the Spotify app on your Galaxy Watch. You get the ability to access recently played music, playlists and the top charts. Naturally, you'll also get to take a look at your own library, which includes your custom playlists. If you have a Spotify Premium subscription, you can download Spotify playlists directly on your watch.

How to install Spotify on your Galaxy watch?

1. Open the Play Store on your Galaxy watch.

2. Search for Spotify and tap on Install.

3. Once the app is installed, make sure your watch is connected to your smartphone. This allows you to automatically sign in using your existing Spotify app on the phone.

4. Now you will see the song title and srtist name, along with basic controls like play, pause and track skipping. Select a playlist to play.

5. If you want to listen to Spotify offline on your watch, tap the Download button under the playlist name.

6. When the playlist has been completely downloaded, find it under "Downloads."

Option 3. What if you don't have Spotify Premium

If you don't have a Spotify Premium, you can still play Spotify music on Galaxy Watch with some limitations. You won’t be able to select a specific song from a playlist. You’ll need to rely on shuffle and skip tracks using the media controller, and you can only skip to the next track, skipping to the previous tracks is not available.
