Solutions to Spotify Says Offline Even Connected to Internet 2025

"I have a Samsung Galaxy active and my Spotify account will tell me I'm in offline mode and won't search for songs or load albums, even though I'm not in offline mode and I am connected to Wifi." If you also encounter the same issue, here we have listed several tips you can try to fix the issue.

Solutions

Check Network and Firewall

If Spotify app suddenly shows offline when on mobile data but returns to online once connected to WiFi. Go to Settings  > Cellular, scroll down to apps and toggle Spotify to On.

Turn your Wi-fi/Mobile Data off for about 30 seconds and then turn it on. Disconnect from Wifi and use Mobile Data. Ensure your network connection is stable. If it doesn’t work, try restarting your router.

Sometimes, your firewall or antivirus may perceive Spotify as a threat and block it from accessing the network. So check your firewall settings.

Turn off Offline Mode

With Offline Mode, you can only play the songs you downloaded. Anything you haven’t downloaded is now grayed out and unavailable. To stream more songs, you need to switch off Offline Mode. Take a look at Spotify settings and check if the app is running the Offline mode. If it is, disable it.

On Mobile and tablet

  1. Open the Spotify app.
  2. Tap Home - Settings(the gear icon on the top right corner).
  3. Tap Playback.
  4. Switch Offline off.

On Desktop

  1. Open Spotify.
  2. For Mac: In the Apple menu at the top of the screen, click SpotifyFor Windows: Click the three-dot menu icon in the top-left corner. Select File.
  3. Uncheck Offline Mode.

Check Data Saver

Did you turn on Data Saver to save data? Data Saver reduces mobile data usage by preventing apps from using data in the background and lowering data usage for apps currently in use. As you might expect, this can sometimes affect various apps' functionality. To guarantee Spotify unrestricted access to data even when Data Saver is on, you can turn on "Unrestricted data" or "EXEMPTIONS" for it. Different Android phones may have different names. Here we will take Pixel phone and Huawei phone as examples.

On Pixel phone

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Network & internet - Data Saver - Unrestricted data.
  3. Turn on the app or service you'd like to use mobile data while Data Saver is on.

On Huawei phone

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Mobile network - Data usage - Smart Data Saver.
  3. Turn on Spotify in EXEMPTIONS list.
